The Monterey Bay International Trade Association is promoting yet another trade conference, this one in Sacramento.  While it is not directly China related, it has an international flavor and one of the major sponsors is Alibaba.

This is the MBITA website synopsis of the conference:

This conference will bring together small to mid-sized enterprises and trade promotion service organizations in both the public and private sectors with experts from across the state to dialog on the current issues, challenges and opportunities facing California’s global trade and investment community.

This year’s conference will feature panels and presentations on using web based solutions for qualified information, marketing, trade finance, interpretation/translation, collaboration and security.

It is an all day affair with some interesting panels:

Online Translation and Interpretation Services

Translation and interpretation are the cornerstones for successful bilateral trade and investment. This industry and the challenges of global online ‘localization’ have given birth to an array of new online services, such as, 3rd party on-demand interpreters, instant ‘IM’ interpretation and quick translation turnarounds.

Web-based Market Research, Qualified Trade Leads & Competitive Intelligence Sources
Sponsored by Alibaba

The online global marketplace poses many challenges including finding qualified trade service providers, importers, exporters, manufacturers and foreign strategic partners.  The proliferation of online sources for such information or service is confusing, daunting and sometimes intimidating.  This panel will analyze these issues to discover the ‘best of breed’ websites and online sources for the new ‘flat’ world of online global trade.

Global eCommerce Financing Services

The new global economy has dictated additional rules for global trade and investment.  No longer is the ‘dollar’ the necessary currency for business, and financing a trade transaction,  foreign direct investment or negotiating payment terms need to be accomplished in the most cost efficient and effective manner possible. Online ‘players’ require a sophisticated understanding of all their online options for secure global eCommerce opportunities.

Registration can be found here.  Looks like fun!
