green trade mission to china, 5/10-21
Got an email yesterday from the MBITA (Monterey Bay International Trade Association) about a 10 day trip to China that it is hosting from May 10-21, 2008. It is called the “California Trade Mission to China May 2008″ and the itinerary, located here, looks quite ambitious. (Reminds me of Bill Dodson type travels, though probably not quite as adventurous)
From the MBITA trip website:
The last 20 years of the world economy have been characterized by the economic development of China. The strengths of the Chinese manufacturing industry are drawing more and more companies throughout the world to purchase such products from China or to do OEM in China.
In order to further promote the cooperation between Chinese companies and their American counterparts, the Monterey Bay International Trade Association (MBITA) in partnership with the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the China Chamber of International Commerce have organized a trade mission to China from May 10th-21st, 2008.
This trade mission will target California companies providing environmental technologies in recycling, waste management, air & water purification, ‘green’ construction and renewable energy including growing, harvesting and post-harvesting agriculture technologies.
The California trade mission delegates will visit and meet with Chinese companies and government dignitaries from Beijing, Tianjin, Shenyang and Changchun. One-on-one meetings with qualified Chinese counterparts will be arranged and then introduced to all trade mission delegates to discuss their specific product representation, purchase or sale, technology transfer, project investment and/or joint-venture.
I have no idea how helpful something this organized will be, however. One visit is not enough, but if this is a repeat visit or a scouting excursion, it should prove interesting.
