Practising Law Institute ( PLI) is hosting a conference called “ Doing Business in China 2008” on 6/18 in San Francisco and via webcast. (there is also a 6/17 program in New York with a different faculty). It’s an all day affair, 9am - 5:15pm held at PLI’s conference center at 685 Market Street, San Francisco, CA 94105.

Seems to be interesting because the attorneys teaching are mostly PRC lawyers and not U.S. attorneys:

Jeffrey Blount, Fulbright & Jaworski LLP, Hong Kong And Beijing, CHN
Jessica Fei, WongPartnership LLP, Shanghai, CHN
Peter Guang Chen, Partner, Deloitte Tax LLP, New York, NY
Peter X. Huang, Partner, Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, Beijing, CHN
Professor Yong Huang, University of International Business & Economics (UIBE) School of International Education, Beijing, CHN
Maochang Li, Jun He Law Office, Beijing, CHN
Richard Li, CCPIT Patent & Trademark Law Offce, New York, NY
Charles C. Liu, Ph.D., J.D., Unitalen Attorneys at Law, Beijing, CHN
Jingzhou Tao, Jones Day, Beijing, CHN
Winston (Jiusu) Zhao, Jones Day, Shanghai, CHN

I think the Chinese speakers will give us a slightly different feel about doing business in China than U.S. lawyers like Anna Han, Tom Klitgaard, Dan Harris, etc. So this should prove to be an interesting conference. Here is PLI’s promotional pitch about this program:
