The American Lawyer published an article today entitled, “
Lawyers Face Off With Governments in India, China“ (free subscription required) reports that the government in Beijing is going after human rights law firm Yitong. Apparently, the firm had been ordered to shut down for 6 months:

I recently added a blogroll section dedicated to Asian Philanthrophy and non-profits. (Yes, I know the Chronicle of Philanthropy isn’t Asia focused, but is worth reading if you want to follow this area) I thought it would be of use to some people who want to focus more on the non-profit world, especially as it is of increasing interest to me personally.

Yes, we are looking to hire 1-2 law student interns this summer at my non-profit organization,

It’s been a crazy month at work, and it’s not letting up, so I apologize for the attention (or lack thereof) that has been paid to this blog. The other day, I received an email from the International Center for Non-profit Law because the new issue for the IJNL is published:

Douglas Rutzen, David Moore, and Michael Durham
The Legal and Regulatory Framework for Civic Organizations in Namibia
Benedict C. Iheme
International Grantmaking
Foundation Center in Cooperation with Council on Foundations

Just saw an interesting announcement in the California Bar Journal that the State Bar’s Litigation and Real Property sections are scheduling a CLE (continuing legal education) program in HK for the first week of November 2009. No details, but it says for more info, contact Kristina Robledo at
kristina.robledo@calbar.ca.gov. So if you any of you in HK need California CLE, here’s a way to get some.
I thought working at a non-profit would mean that I have more time to blog. Ironically, with the pace of the global business development team at TechSoup Global, I’ve had even less. Who would’ve thought? Will try to get some stuff in here and there. Right now, its absolutely nuts… which in this economy, is a good thing.
